I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a struggle at times this month, but nonetheless, I am damnably proud of this:
By my count, I wrote a 50,037 word novel - it may not be great, but it's MINE.
I always think of NaNoWriMo as the most fun I only want to have once a year - every year, I forget how hard it is to hit that word count every day, how hard it is to come from behind, how hard it is finding that perfect plot and those perfect characters to write about, but in the end, it always seems to come together for me.
I went to a NaNo meetup earlier this month to meet other Wrimos, and discovered that I had been a Wrimo the longest (9 years), and had the most finishes (9 now, of course!), and in fact, was one of the only people to have EVER finished, and was definitely the only one to finish multiple times.
I think I forget what a momentous thing it is to write a novel in a month (or less), and that few Wrimos accomplish it.
Yep, I'm damn proud of that badge. :-)
And my eternal thanks to my faithful beta readers too...you know who you are. :-)
Until next year...
